International Students

Cybersecurity and cloud computing present global challenges. At GW, we are committed to creating a diverse cohort of students who contribute a broad range of perspectives and go on to pursue fulfilling careers, wherever they reside. With this goal in mind, we offer our online programs to international students.

We encourage you to thoroughly review our resources for international students to determine what materials you need to apply. International applicants should note that, because these programs are offered entirely online, GW and the SEAS cannot issue student visas.

Consider any difference in time zones to make sure you’ll be able to attend the required synchronous class sessions. All students are provided with the required eBooks for their courses, included in the cost of tuition. For more information, click here or contact an Admissions Counselor with any questions.

Scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or the PTE Academic are required of all applicants who are not citizens of countries where English is the official language. Exceptions may be made for applicants who hold a bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree from an institution where English is the language of instruction and the official language of the country in which the university is located, or who hold a bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree from an institution that is accredited by a U.S. regional accrediting agency.

Minimum Test Scores Required (submit one of the following):

  • Academic IELTS: an overall band score of 6.0 with no individual score below 5.0
  • TOEFL: 600 on paper-based or 100 on Internet-based
  • PTE Academic: 68
